The
REES FACTOR
Perry just emailed
saying "he has about 6hrs 45mins
left to ride 110 miles"
We just emailed Perry as
he as a good idea of the route, asking
him in his opinion can Jim officially
finish?
Perry said "I'm
officially worried for him - we will
know better at his next time station".

Okay RAAM fans, get out the stationary bikes, pump up the music and ride along
as Jim Rees, complete with neck brace attempts to finish RAAM 2007. With approximately
110 miles to go and 6.75 hours to do so, it will come down to the rider. Just
think of his position, last night life was cruel to John, seeing him fall asleep
on the bike and repeatedly having to be stopped from riding. Now in the clear
of the day after riding for 11 days and some 2,900 miles with a neck brace
(approximately 2,000 miles with neck brace) he needs to dig down as deep as
he possibly can to reach the finish line on time. I feel for him and I strangely
feel confident that he will accomplish this. Call it intuition, call it hope
but I believe Rees can pull it off. Lets cheer him on!!!!
It's
3.30pm and Jim has just gone through
time station 54 on his way downhill
to Time
station 55.
Ooops
Jim is on his way to 54.
Its going to be tight. But Jim's been
climbing, so slow progress.
Just got in
at Time Station 52 pushing on to get
to 53.
127 miles to go. He has to makeTime station
57 by 5.00pm american time, which is
10.00pm (GMT) . Come onJim!!
Jim Rees
report that came in last night.
June 21, 2007 - 20:55 — Perry Stone
Jim Rees is practicing what he preaches, digging deep, in spite of his neck
issues and riding forward. He did get caught in some torrential rains but that
is past him now. He is in reasonably good shape to earn an official finish
but it might be in the last few minutes of eligibility. His crew chief Paris
(remain calm, not the hotel one) is very comfortable with Jim’s health
and physical ability and is confident there should be no problem with getting
to the gambling Mecca on time. For more info on Jim and his efforts to inspire
people to reach for their dreams, please visit http://www.teaminspiration.co.uk/
JUNE 21TH (Day 11)

Jim
Rees Spinning Obstacles into Opportunities
June 21, 2007 - 05:39 — Perry Stone
Obstacles into Opportunities, that’s the way Jim Rees thinks and he hopes
young adults will think the same. Allan Larsen reports that Jim Rees is not
wavering at all in his determination and while he is currently in last place,
he figures that is a whole lot better then those three letters that can unfortunately
appear at the end of a rider’s name. He stills wears his neck brace and
Larsen comments that it is good to see someone as crazy as himself. I bet there
are a lot of people who should be so “crazy”. Rees last checked
in at TS 48 leaving some big, big “hills” and 401 miles between
him, his neck brace the waters that will connect him to his home.
We woke up this morning to find Jim has gone through 47 and 48, Jim is on the
way to Time
Station 49 - 401.9 miles to finish line having travelled 2640.9 miles.
Jim
may also be comforted to hear that
one of the harden racers Wolfgang Fashing
also arrived in Atlantic City at the
end of the race with a neck problem
and could not hold his head.
JUNE

It
is now 10.45 (GMT) and Jim has just

by the
time we wake up in the morning Jim
will be through 47.
44
and 45 has now been passed and he
is sailing ahead to 46. Mike spoke
to John in the crew, they are all
in good spirits - reviewing Jim's
sleep pattern. Jim has a very sore
bum says Donna, but is coping really
well.

But
Jim's race goes on.... Jim
has definately got some
grit and determination
he is now through 39
and on his way to Time
Station 40. This
is another time station
cutoff point Indianapolis.
It
took Jim 8 days 12 hour and 46 mins
to get to station 38 which means
he has cycled 2142.7 miles.He
is doing on average 251 miles per
day - not forgetting this is back
to back with a couple of hours sleep.

Rees Update

Jim had a rough slow night but the
brace to support his neck that his
crew constructed for him is working
well and he has carried on this morning.
Jim
and his crew are concerned about the next cut-off TS Wednesday in Indianapolis,
but they are working hard to get there. Jim said, “Just tell me where
I need to be and when I need to be there."
JUNE

is fine when he is on the bike but

June 17, 2007 - 14:31 — Perry Stone
Jim’s Crew is trying to go MacGyver on him and rig up some sort of support
for his neck. We will let you know when we hear how then went. Jim Rees Is at
the south end of a long list of solo
riders and he is hurting big time, his
neck has “gone” as they say
in the ultra game, however his crew works
to finagle a system to support Jim’s
skull so he can see the road and continue
on. Jim is reported to remain good natured
and focused throughout his neck ordeal.
Jim
and the crew have just gone through
Time Station 31 it is now nearly
17.00 (GMT). Have a look at Time
Station 32. They are now in Missouri.
At
Time Station 29 on the
way to 30 -
looks like Jim has rested
again. Jim made it through
this cut off time, and
is ploughing on so as
not to be too late for
the next one. We received
an email blast from Donna
Jim's physio.
From
Donna today-, Physio crew member, keeping
Jim in shape.
America has been the most amazing adventure. If you want to see were we have
been so far look on have a look at the past news and
this will tell you what we have been up to. Tired is just not the word. we
sleep around 4 hours in 24 and the rest of the time
we look after Jim Rees our rider- the photos i've taken tell so many stories.
We went through greensborough in kansas that had been totally desimated by
a huge tornado. and we have seen two small tornados called wind devils and
one hit the side of our RV whilst we were on the move which was a tad scary.
tomorrow we will be in moussori and shit it's hot. Jim has been coping well
but we are are now entering the second half of the race with more physical
challenges especially the neck and some pretty worn out muscles. My work is
endless here so i must get my beauty sleep.

Danny
Chew reporting from Race
Across America reported that "Just
one mile in, Great Britain's
Jim Rees' seat came loose,
but a friend riding with
him fixed it, and they caught
back up with the pack stopped,
waiting for the official
start. (This news is quite
old now and only came through
today on the race
across america web site.
11th June
2007 Check out the link above for Jims race position and statistics, and
while you are there have a look around www.raceacrossamerica.org website.
There are a few pictures of Jim in the race if you look at the photographs.page.
Waiting for news
from the Team, keep watching this
space.
This is Jim's
interview with RAAM before the race:- Great
Britain's Jim Rees plans to do a two
person mixed team with his wife in
the future. He wants to get people
to knock the 'T' and apostrophe off the word can't. He
says, "Everyone we interact with we leave a fingerprint on
that person. We can leave a positive impression on every
interaction. We are all built for greatness, what mark are
we going to leave?" He would like to beat fellow
countryman Chris Hopkinson's finishing time. He has
finished 10 Ironman triathlons all over the world over the
past 20 years. He has been e-mailing Ben Courturier, and
has been doing lots of neck exercises (like I used to do)
to strengthen his neck muscles, but will still have a neck
brace as a safety net.

June 2007 quick update
from Paris : Team Inspiration
passed this morning's
scrutineering with flying
colours, so we are all
set to race. Bikes have
just gone for their final
check over. Jim is in
good spirits and eager
to get started. We were
treated to some genuine
Italian cuisine last
night as Enrico cooked
delicious pasta for everyone.
We are now making final
checks and plans to ensure
we are good to go for
the start 9am local time
on Sunday.
Just a quick note to say Hi. We've sailed through the bike inspection
and we are all checked in and ready for the race, the crew are firing
well together and are very excited about the race.
I'm feeling great
and have been out on the bike for
an hour just turning my legs over
and feel strong.
Our follow vehicle
has been kitted out with a loud
speaker system so the crew can
keep in touch with me and play
my favourite music as we cross
the states.
